The Sochi Project

"Soviet-designed cameras are known for their poor quality: all the images in the book are damaged by scratches due to faulty film advance mechanics. The book is an exceptional object. Conceived by the graphic designers Kummer & Herrman who are accompanying the project, it is presented as a sort of double leporello (accordion book) printed on cardboard. It first unfolds horizontally. But the chosen technique allows, every four images, either to turn a page (and thus hide two photos), or to rotate the object to obtain a kind of poster of 60 x 86 cm where all the photos become visible".
